Draft EIS Release


Summary:  The Department of the Navy has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed basing of the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft in the Western United States. The Proposed Action is to replace the U.S Marine Corps’ aging fleet of helicopters with the more advanced MV-22 aircraft as part of the 3rd and 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. Basing alternatives include MCAS Miramar, MCAS Camp Pendleton, and MCAS Yuma.

How to Review EIS Documents:  The EIS can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format below or viewed at one of the following libraries:

Public Meetings:  The Marine Corps is holding three open house sessions to provide information on potential environmental impacts of the Proposed Action and alternatives and to solicit oral and written comments from agencies and the public on the Draft EIS. The open house sessions will be held at the following locations:
