Summary: The Department of the Navy has prepared a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed basing of the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft in the Western United States. The Proposed Action is to replace the U.S Marine Corps’ aging fleet of helicopters with the more advanced MV-22 aircraft as part of the 3rd and 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. Basing alternatives include MCAS Miramar, MCAS Camp Pendleton, and MCAS Yuma.
